Help make a difference now!

A little can go a long way for children in Shelter Care. Our Shelter Care program serves between 20 and 25 Butte county children a month. These children often come to us in acute crisis. It is the Shelter Care staff’s goal to provide a safe environment for the child until the crisis can be resolved.

Butte county is suffering a tremendous problem with methamphetamine. Our most urgent need at this time is a basic welcome pack for our children in Shelter Care. These children are quite often detained from houses used as methamphetamine labs and because of that they have to dispose of all their belongings immediately. This leaves kids with literally nothing including the clothes on their back because of meth contamination.

There are many ways to help foster children and families by helping us fulfill our wish list. We would like to provide a welcome pack of basic things such as: A toothbrush, tooth paste, brushes, etc. Full outfit of clothing including a pair of socks, shoes, pants, shirt and underwear a stuffed animal or book at a cost of $25 per child.

We see over 200 kids a year in shelter: the total cost $5,000. We are asking that you consider sponsoring a child or more with a donation of $25 - $100.

Help kids gain new experiences!

Most of us take for granted the things we are able to give to our own children: summer camp or music lessons, prom tickets or dresses, contact lenses or bicycles, roller blades or team uniforms.

For kids placed in foster care, the basics are provided; the extras might not be. What seems like a small gesture to some can make childhood a whole lot better for kids in foster care.

Help the Kids

  • Sponsor a dinner or a sporting event (bowling or skating).
  • Provide Holiday/Birthday gifts or gift packs (toiletries/bedding).
  • Donate movie tickets, fast food coupons, or tickets to cultural events.
  • Become a mentor or tutor a child.
  • Stop by our Thursday Night Market booth and buy some cards, magnets or stepping stones. It all goes to the donation fund.

Help recruit new Foster Parents

  • Donate advertising space on menus, newspapers, billboards, or newsletters.
  • Provide a special night out.
  • Donate funds to support activities.
  • Use our logo on promotional items.
  • Tell your friends and associates about the need for foster parents.
