Have you ever considered foster parenting?

Foster Care: Foster parenting a child in need is a vital link in stopping child abuse. It is an important and rewarding contribution.

As foster parents, you have the opportunity to show a foster child how your family works and plays, share your family values and traditions, and fully accept a child into your home.

There are approximately 98,000 children in Foster Care in California; the average age is 8.5 years old. These children, who are unable to remain with their birth families until problems are resolved, need kindness, nurturing and guidance.

Youth and Family Programs is licensed by the California Department of Social Services/Community Care Licensing to certify homes for foster care.

Youth & Family Programs is dedicated to working as a team with foster parents, birth families, relatives, friends, teachers, and any other participants to achieve permanence for every child. We always have staff available to answer questions regarding foster parenting.

Some aspects of our program are:

Accepting Butte Co. Families
Foster Parent Training
Financial Reimbursement
Family Activities
Birth Family Support
A supportive community of people involved in foster children.

Shelter Care:

We are looking for a seasoned foster home to provide shelter care . . . What is Shelter Care? Youth and Family Programs partners with Butte Co. to provide emergency shelter in four private family homes, to children newly removed from their own homes. The goal is to provide twelve foster children at a time (four in each home) with a “safe harbor” for up to 30 days. The four homes work closely with two social workers for support in providing loving, comfortable care to children who are most often scared and confused. The county contacts the homes directly to place children. Homes work on a rotation schedule, with three months on and one month off. Agency provides guaranteed pay and time off. ***For more information contact Carrie at 893-2316 x 220 or email at cpavis@youthandfamily.info
